A Year In Review: GeroWallet Features
2021 has been a whirlwind year for GeroWallet and the greater Cardano community. We had an incredibly successful launch of the $GERO token back in May followed soon after by the release of the public beta with more functionality being added regularly.
This article will give you a recap of the features we have added to GeroWallet since launch! Enjoy and see you in 2022 for another amazing year in the ecosystem.
Beta Release
On August 12, 2021, we released the much anticipated public beta version of GeroWallet! At that time, GeroWallet allowed users to purchase $ADA through our partner MoonPay, as well as store, send and receive $ADA. Our team worked hard to get this first version of the wallet out to the community and we were very happy with the result. This first iteration was our chance to show off the seamless user interface and give the community an opportunity to experience it first hand.
Update 1.7.1 — ADA Staking
On October 27, 2021, we released update 1.7.1 which included $ADA staking, multi-wallet support, wallet customization, and some optimization to the homepage. Most notably, this update allowed users to seamlessly stake their $ADA and start earning rewards. Another major highlight of this update was that it allowed users to create multiple wallet addresses and customize the color palette for each wallet. Wallet customization is a unique feature that allows users to easily distinguish between various wallet addresses by having a separate theme to each one.
Update 1.8.1 — CNT Support
On November 30, 2021, GeroWallet version 1.8.1 was released. This version allowed users to store, send, and receive any Cardano Native Token (CNT). Community members were excited to send tokens such as $ADAX, $WMT, and $HOSKY to their GeroWallet addresses and this marked a huge milestone in the functionality of the wallet.
Update 1.8.6 — NFT Support
The release of version 1.8.6 enabled our users to store NFTs within GeroWallet. This was exciting not only because it allowed users to view their NFTs natively within the wallet, but also because it was a major step toward integrating the additional NFT functionalities that will be facilitated by our current and future partners. User experience is top priority at GeroWallet and we work hard to make things as seamless as possible. It was important to us to ensure our community can see their NFTs natively within the wallet, a feature which is not common in the space, but we feel adds to our overall user experience.
Needless to say, it’s been a pretty busy year and we could not be more grateful for the support of our community every step of the way. 2022 is set to be another big one for GeroWallet and for the whole Cardano ecosystem. Next up from GeroWallet you can look forward to hardware wallet support, decentralized exchange integration, iOS and Android apps. Wait till you see what else we have in store for 2022!
